The Spring Pairing at Spier’s Tasting Room celebrates the new season with four wines paired with an elegant array of canapés. Available from 1 September, each of these tasty treats are made from seasonal ingredients sourced from the Spier farm as well as other nearby, ethical producers:
- The apple notes and brioche hints of the opulently dry Spier Méthode Cap Classique is paired with a marinated cucumber ribbon stuffed with cream cheese and spring herbs and topped with sourdough crumbs and green oil.
- The crisp yet fruity Spier Signature Chardonnay/Pinot Noir is matched with a skewer featuring basil and mint-compressed melon, prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella cheese balls.
- The berry-rich and supple Spier Signature Pinotage is paired with roast purple baby beet, pickled blackberry, goat cheese and black pepper.
- Lastly, the suavely serious Spier 21 Gables Sauvignon Blanc’s gooseberry and fresh asparagus notes perfectly complement mature Gruberg cheese, custard and candied walnut.
The Spring Pairing costs just R120 per person and is exclusively available at the Spier Tasting Room from 1 September until 30 November 2019.
