It’s high time to explore the Mother City’s world-renowned and ever-dynamic creative community! Design is putting its best foot forward this June and inviting you to step out on the inaugural Cape Town Design Trail from 1-30 June 2021. Over 100 participating designers, studios and brands will bring the entire month to life with a stimulating array of launches, exhibitions, presentations, talks and displays. The new trail gives participants one-on-one access to incredible showrooms and private maker spaces while raising the bar for the industry and involving the city as a whole. Not-to-be-missed, the trail is presented by the Decorex Africa portfolio and is the first of its kind for the city. The array of stimulating sights and sounds allows Cape Town to cement its reputation as a creative capital, and a former World Design Capital. Cape Town is also the first city in Africa to be named a UNESCO City of Design – and the accolade is rightly deserved when you look at the exceptional calibre of its creative citizens. To help you make sense of the massive variety and number of participants, the trail has been divided into a series of curated routes, each with its own theme. Formerly the general manager of The Marine Hotel in Hermanus – and hotel manager at Asara Wine Estate & Hotel before joining The Liz McGrath Collection – Berinato has had a long and distinguished career at hotels of distinction.
Singita, multi-award-winning hospitality and conservation brand, officially opens Singita Kwitonda Lodge and Kataza House in Rwanda on 1 August 2019. Set on 178 acres (72 hectares) on the edge of Volcanoes National Park, Kwitonda Lodge boasts eight luxurious suites, while Kataza House, an exclusive-use villa, features four spacious suites. Singita has operated iconic ecotourism lodges and camps in Africa for the past 26 years. The brand’s expansion into Rwanda supports the company’s 100-year purpose to preserve and protect large areas of African wilderness for future generations. To this end, Singita has committed to extensive reforestation initiatives in Rwanda, helping to increase the range and numbers of endangered mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. The opening of Singita Volcanoes National Park also brings much-needed attention to the plight of the gorillas and the urgent need to expand and protect their habitat. The warm and welcoming spirit of the people of Rwanda embodies a sense of goodwill that encapsulates their remarkable recovery from a painful past. The gentle energy that drives them forward in their country’s rebirth is truly inspiring. It is within this context that Singita is privileged to open Singita Volcanoes National Park, contributing significantly to conservation, community partnerships and [...]
