Primary schools around the world are being invited to join a ground-breaking health educational campaign. FAST Heroes, supported and endorsed by the World Stroke Organization, is being rolled out globally – with a Grand Mission to recruit a million children to help save their Grandparents. The award-winning FAST Heroes campaign seeks to use children between the ages of 5 and 9 years of age as the catalyst to help improve recognition of the signs of stroke, as well as the need for speedy action. Leveraging their amazing enthusiasm for learning and sharing, children are encouraged to spread knowledge to the rest of their family, particularly their grandparents. The educational resources are fun, engaging, and interactive, teaching children about empathy and love, as well as providing practical life-saving skills. Sheila Martins, Neurology Professor and President elect of the World Stroke Organization, said: “One in four of us will have a stroke in our lifetime, and worldwide, it is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability. However, it is treatable. People who have a stroke need access to high quality acute care as quickly as possible, so increasing awareness of the key symptoms is vital. Children [...]

Now that South Africans are legally able to possess and cultivate cannabis for personal use, there’s a growing demand for high-quality products and advice. KushKush (www.kushkushonline.com) is just the place to find all this – and more! The recently launched female-focused online platform, which is owned and managed by women, for women, has something for everyone, from regular recreational or medicinal users to the canna-curious who merely want to be informed. As a holistic channel, KushKush’s aim is to empower women in the areas of health, wellness, beauty, nutrition, exercise, fashion, sex and business. It is Africa’s first cannabis platform that is oriented toward a female consumer. The platform was started to cater specifically to this burgeoning sector of the market. Before launching, KushKush conducted a research survey, which shows that most female consumers use cannabis products for relaxation, stress release and better sleep, but they would also love to find out more about how this miracle plant can be used for skincare, mental health and wellness, and enhanced creativity. These insights guide the KushKush offering. This includes anything from stylish apparel and accoutrements, to medicinally oriented journals, to recipe books and intimacy oils – all of which are linked [...]

Fermented foods are fast gaining ground as the latest foodie fad and health food wonder. Not only do they have an attractively tangy flavour profile, they’re also better for you than their unfermented counterparts. That’s because they’re cultured – and think live cultures, as in yoghurt, not an evening at the Opera! Cultured foodstuffs contain live probiotic microbes that boost the immune system, aid digestion and unlock energy for the body. Cultured Drinks “are what you would call ‘functional’ foods,” says Alastair Burns, the Director of Probyo, a newly launched brand that has just released an all-natural range of three cultured drinks, which aim to promote general health and wellbeing. The Probyo Digestive, Probyo Immune and Probyo Sports drinks all contain live probiotics, including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, which encourage positive health benefits. The new range is affiliated with The Noakes Foundation. As part of this, R3 of every bottle of Probyo sold will go to the Foundation for their research and Eat Better South Africa campaign that seeks to promote better health in poorer communities. In addition, Probyo has committed to regularly donating a generous number of the drinks themselves to be distributed on the ground via The Noakes Foundation. [...]
