Spier Harvest of the Arts: a showcase of music, dance and performance, to celebrate the annual grape harvest
Directed by Brett Bailey to celebrate the annual grape harvest with an electrifying show
Spier Wine Farm will host a spectacular evening to celebrate the annual grape harvest on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March 2020. Featuring some of the Cape’s top singing, music and dance talents, the family-friendly Spier Harvest of the Arts will take place on the lawns of the Spier Werf at the historic Stellenbosch farm from the late afternoon into the evening.
Arrive from 16:00 to take part in fun harvest activities such as barrel rolling, grape-stomping and potato sack races. At 19:00, drums call you to gather in the harvest kraal, where the performance will take place.
Internationally acclaimed theatre director Brett Bailey, choreographer Natalie Fisher and musical director Daniel Eppel, have collaborated to create a swirling, ecstatic ceremonial performance of thanksgiving for the rich harvests of 2020.
The work features renowned vocalists Ernestine Deane (formerly of Moodphase5ive), the explosive Mapumba Cilombo, and the bewitching Ann Jangle, joined in song by Spier’s very own choir. A band of Cape Town’s top tier musicians, a host of percussionists, and whirling dancers set the night aflame as the autumn leaves fall. A night of magic not to be forgotten.
Tickets are available from Webtickets and start at R150, with no charge for children under 12. Why not spend the night? Book on www.spier.co.za using promo code HARVEST to qualify for the special rate of R1250 per person sharing at the Spier Hotel.
