		<description><![CDATA[With a remarkable legacy and importance in the history of Champagne, La Maison Pommery is a proudly traditional Champagne house from Reims, France whose global reach now extends to South Africa. Its arrival in this country in early 2025 is cause for celebration! Pommery is one of the most historic and celebrated producers in its category, known for perfecting the art and science of Champagne. Not to force nature, but to ensure that it yields its best: this is the philosophy behind Pommery’s Champagne-making legacy. In 1860, the recently widowed Madame Pommery took the reins of her late husband’s wine business with the ambition to grow her house. In July 1868 she launched what became known as ‘the construction site of the century’, where she led the transformation of crayères chalk pits into cellars. The soft white rock was mined for the construction in Reims, where the house is still located. To this day, the cellars continue to guarantee the perfect humidity and temperature conditions to age and store Champagne.
