The eagerly awaited Matador Network’s ‘25 most spectacular hotels in the world: 2020’ list includes Singita Lebombo Lodge, in the Kruger National Park, in its top 5 selection. The best hotels and lodges from around the world are highlighted in the list, released late in January 2020 – yet another credit to both Singita and Cécile & Boyd’s already illustrious reputations. Designed in collaboration with GAPP Architects, Lebombo reflects the spectacular landscape from which it draws its inspiration. Spectacular is certainly the way to describe this luxury destination in the heart of the Kruger, overlooking the N’wanetsi River. Guests are transported into a bushveld world of dramatic landscapes home to high concentrations of iconic wildlife. Abundant prey draws many big cats to the area, including large prides of lion. Often referred to as “Lebombo: Land of Lions” after the Lebombo mountain ridge, it is one of the best places to see these beautiful animals in their natural habitat. Yet the award-winning accommodation, where the contemporary décor is a standout feature, is an added attraction that distinguishes Lebombo from a plethora of safari options. The Cécile & Boyd interiors are something that Matador specifically points out, stating that: “While many luxury safari [...]

Five of Singita’s luxury lodges have been named among the best in Africa, in Condé Nast Traveller (UK & USA) Readers’ Choice Awards – proving that quality design is a distinguishing feature of high-end resorts. The luxury safari market remains competitive, despite wobbles in the global economy. Valued at USD 1184.6m in 2018, it’s a thriving market in which unflagging demand for purposeful safari experiences is driving an increase in tourist numbers. But monied travellers are increasingly looking for “experiences, privacy, and unique memories all bundled into one bespoke package”, according to Forbes magazine, which drives lodges and camps to offer much more than just spectacular sunsets. How, then, can properties gain a competitive advantage in this market, with new high-end lodges unveiled every year and visitors continually looking for the next thrilling adventure? Broadening the scope of guest activities is certainly an option (walking with wildlife and stargazing have been popular, along with particular conservation projects) – but that doesn’t guarantee an increase in the number of visitors, or indeed lead to customer retention. There is, however, evidence to suggest that quality accommodation and inspiring design, together with sustainable ecotourism (that is, making a difference), are driving tourists to [...]

Singita, multi-award-winning hospitality and conservation brand, officially opens Singita Kwitonda Lodge and Kataza House in Rwanda on 1 August 2019. Set on 178 acres (72 hectares) on the edge of Volcanoes National Park, Kwitonda Lodge boasts eight luxurious suites, while Kataza House, an exclusive-use villa, features four spacious suites. Singita has operated iconic ecotourism lodges and camps in Africa for the past 26 years. The brand’s expansion into Rwanda supports the company’s 100-year purpose to preserve and protect large areas of African wilderness for future generations. To this end, Singita has committed to extensive reforestation initiatives in Rwanda, helping to increase the range and numbers of endangered mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park. The opening of Singita Volcanoes National Park also brings much-needed attention to the plight of the gorillas and the urgent need to expand and protect their habitat. The warm and welcoming spirit of the people of Rwanda embodies a sense of goodwill that encapsulates their remarkable recovery from a painful past. The gentle energy that drives them forward in their country’s rebirth is truly inspiring. It is within this context that Singita is privileged to open Singita Volcanoes National Park, contributing significantly to conservation, community partnerships and [...]
