		<description><![CDATA[29 February comes around only once every four years, which makes it a day worthy of recognition. It’s time to make the general nuttiness that is Leap Day even zanier with the Mad Hatter’s Leap Year Tea Party at The Marine in association with Carrol Boyes. This wonderfully (and deliberately) bonkers affair is like something straight out of Alice in Wonderland. There’s a special guest MC on the day and a Mad Hatter dress theme, of course, with prizes for the smallest, largest and maddest hats – so start designing your headwear now! Tables will be adorned with beaded traditional African craft sculptures by Monkeybiz, Carrol Boyes’ charity beneficiary. After a refreshing welcome drink, high tea will be served and guests will get to play some fabulous party games, like hat throwing (unless you prefer to hold on to yours!) and pin the Cheshire Cat Smile. There are prizes to be won, so be ready to put your best foot forward. 		<description><![CDATA[The Marine Hotel in Hermanus has commenced a food-and-wine series which consists of four dinner events in partnership with three award-winning Hemel-en-Aarde wineries: Creation, Bouchard Finlayson and Hamilton Russell Vineyards.  The first three dinners of the series each focus on only one winery per evening and will be hosted by the respective winemaker. Talented Head Chef Tronette Dippenaar has prepared incredible menus to match the vintages that have been selected. On Saturday, 27 July 2019, The Marine in Hermanus will host the second event in its series of four Food &#38; Wine Pairing Dinners. This warm, convivial evening of fine wine, fine food and fine company will take place from 18h30 onwards at The Pavilion at The Marine, and will be hosted by winemaker, Peter Finlayson from Bouchard Finlayson. The evening begins with pre-drinks and canapes followed by a short welcome from The Marine’s general manager, Sebastian Berinato, The Head Chef  Tronette Dippenaar, and the winemaker, Peter. 		<description><![CDATA[Tronette Dippenaar, Head Chef at The Marine in Hermanus, oversees the popular Origins restaurant as well as breakfast venue The Pavilion. Her charismatic and energetic approach to food and service, and her leadership skills have been an asset to the hotel’s culinary offering since she joined the group in 2008. In her 10 years with The Liz McGrath Collection, she’s worked at all three of the hotels, and has now returned to where she started at a Chef de Partie in 2008. She later transferred to The Plettenberg hotel on the Garden Route, where she was promoted to Head Chef, and then on to her third hotel in the group, Cellars-Hohenort. Her next venture was overseeing the culinary offering of the Lord Milner hotel in the tiny historic town of Matjiesfontein. She was there for three years before coming full circle back to Hermanus and to The Marine as Head Chef in 2017. Tronette grew up on a farm in Robertson and attended Tygerberg Hotel School before embarking on her culinary career at The Aghulas Country Lodge.
