Walk Into The World Of Stephen Falcke At Decorex Joburg

His creations are as bold and interesting as his personality, and this year, the award-winning interior designer and patron of Decorex Joburg, Stephen Falcke, will be drawing on his experience within the industry to curate a masterpiece space. Featuring at the 25th Decorex Joburg, presented by Plascon, Falcke’s design will form an intricate part of this incredible décor, design and lifestyle exhibition taking place at Gallagher Convention Centre from 8 to 12 August.

“I’ve been a part of Decorex since its inception and it is truly an honoured position to be patron of this incredible exhibition,” enthused Falcke. “To have all these amazing designs and different people that make up our interesting trade family, all under one roof, is really such an exciting experience, and I look forward to it every year.”

Falcke has an illustrious career spanning various continents. Graduating from the Chelsea School of Art in London, he worked for the famed English decorator, David Hicks, before returning to South Africa where he collaborated with Lionel Levin before establishing his own design organisation.

His unharnessed talent has launched him across the globe with his work featuring on the covers of various international magazines including America’s Architectural Digest, French and Italian Vogue as well as French Ella. Recognition of his design skill was sealed when he received the Andrew Martin Designer of the World Award, also known as ‘the Oscars of the design world’.

However, one of his annual industry highlights is crafting something new for Decorex Joburg. And, for the 2018 edition, Falcke will be welcoming visitors into ‘The World of Design – Stephen’s Way’.

“To celebrate this milestone at Decorex Joburg, I’m looking back over my career and all my creations for Decorex to formulate a truly inspired installation,” he explained. “Visitors will be taken on a journey through time through a visualisation of my ideas and thoughts on interiors and trends, from 25 years ago through to today.”

He said every year, the exhibition was about ‘showing, learning and creating’, always evolving and growing across spheres while maintaining the core quality that makes it such a popular event.

“It’s always a really inspirational time, experiencing Decorex Joburg, with new colours, trends and designs from across the globe all converging in one beautiful space. I’m delighted to witness the reaction to this feature and I’m sure the visitors will not be disappointed.”

Commenting on Falcke’s 25th creation, Sian Cullingworth, Portfolio Director at Decorex SA, said: “There is no doubt that Stephen is in a league of his own when it comes to design, and it is always a revelation to witness his Decorex feature every year.
