The perfect Mother’s Day spoil from Carrol Boyes Functional Art

On a trip to Morocco several years ago, artist and designer Carrol Boyes learnt that a certain bluish-purple cloth was prized in North-West Africa. Called ‘indigo’, the dye used comes from a small indigenous shrub and is considered very valuable, at times even replacing local currencies. She was inspired both by the depth of the colour and the way the Tuareg nomads wore it with so much pride. Hence, the Indigo Girls range was born!

The Indigo Girls range consists of a “composed” Chef’s Plate, “enticing” Dinner Plates (x4), “at leisure” Salad Bowl, “graceful” Cereal/Soup Bowls (x4) and “spellbinding” Side Plates (x4). Set pieces are composed of Fine Bone China and are thus suitable for all homes – be they halaal, kosher or vegan.
