Leading International Brands to Partner with Decorex Africa 2022

Decorex Africa Reimagined and its organiser RX Africa are thrilled to announce a stellar line-up of partners for 2022. This year’s upcoming physical event in Cape Town is set for the CTICC from 16-19 June 2022. Joburgers will be able to explore the event in a new venue, when it takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre from 28-31 July 2022.

Leading international brands have been quick to recognise Decorex Africa’s intelligent move to reimagine itself in the post-pandemic arena, and have moved to align themselves with the two shows. These events have been re-conceived as beacons of thought leadership and commerce-generators for the industry.

Decorex Cape Town and Joburg will both run with top-tier partners at the helm. The reimagined shows now have both physical and digital – or “phygital” – dimensions. Global powerhouse Samsung, which has been partnering with Decorex Africa over the last two years to promote its lifestyle and technology products, is the first to have taken up this prestigious partnership.

Samsung will mount its own display of the latest products for the home, which will include a stimulating presentation of NFTs (non-fungible tokens) that will both titillate adventurous minds and educate the curious. In addition Samsung will bring the Decorex Cooking Theatre to life through an interactive space where celebrity chefs will be sharing their latest recipes.

Says Samsung Lead: Consumer Electronics Product Marketing; Bronwyn Hume: “Once we understood the new direction of Decorex Africa Reimagined we could see the immediate fit for Samsung. We anticipate that both members of the trade and the public will be wowed by our exciting new products and offerings, from television screens that look like art, to the new BESPOKE Fridge with custom panels that allow you to customise the type, colour, and material for your stylish kitchen design. We can’t wait to reveal what’s new and showcase our leading technology and innovations in the most stylish way.”

The second lifestyle partnership has been taken up by Plascon, which returns to the show after previously sponsoring the event for over two decades. In the last three years, Plascon has also reimagined its brand, all the way from renewing its logo through to re-developing its products. The pan-African coatings giant has operations in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe (a joint-venture), Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.

Head of Decorative Marketing,Suvasin Moodley says: “We see the value of returning to the show at this time. We have pioneered many firsts for the continent – our roof paint is free from harmful chemicals likes APEOs, and our Plascon Double Velvet Pure with formaldehyde abatement actually improves indoor air quality, and that’s just a few of our recent innovations. We’re eager to show the industry and our consumers how they can improve their homes, and help protect the planet!”

Spier Wine Farm, one of Stellenbosch’s oldest wine farms, has taken up the mantle of wine partner for both shows, marrying Decorex’s renewed pursuit of excellence with their own longstanding renown. Platter’s by Diners Club Wine Guide named Spier Winery of the Year 2022, after a record-breaking awards season. Spier wines received five prestigious 5-star, eight 4.5-star and nine 4-star ratings.

And speaking of excellence from the Cape, the City of Cape Town has become the presenting partner of the Mother City’s leg of Africa’s design powerhouse. Decorex Cape Town and Joburg both incorporate 100% Design Africa with its focus on product design.

“The City of Cape Town is thrilled to partner with RX Africa for Decorex Cape Town 2022,” notes Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis. “As a UNESCO City of Design, Cape Town prides itself in being a metropolitan city that encourages design and creativity, while also providing a platform for creatives to display their talent. Decorex Cape Town is the perfect stage for some of the continent’s best creatives to show uniquely African design. It is also encouraging for us as the City to see the return of this event after a difficult period due to the pandemic but this is an indication that the events and tourism sector are in steady recovery. We are looking forward to welcoming all the participants to our beautiful Mother City.”

100% Design Africa is co-located within the shows and forms part of the potent mix. For this year, the presenting partner of 100% Design Africa is ASUS, a leading international producer of laptops, notebooks, motherboards and graphics cards. ASUS has recently released a new Creator motherboard which is designed specifically with architecture, interior design and other creative industries in mind.

ASUS has also taken up presenting rights of Decorex Africa’s newly launched one-day Summits that are set to take place in Cape Town on 17 June 2022 and Joburg on 28 July 2022. These are MC’d by Nandi Dlephu and include speakers such as Manthe Ribane, Chris Reid, Joe Osae-Addo and Roelof van Wyk.

“What better way to reach an audience of creators than by embedding ourselves in the industry via 100% Design Africa and these new architectural and interior design Summits.” says Juan Mouton of ASUS.

The Summits will provide key insights from local leading lights and a not-to-be-missed keynote presentation by an international guest speaker. While they are intended to stimulate thought and conversation among industry professionals, anyone with an interest in design is welcome to book a place, and to experience ASUS’s new offering.

“Backed by all these incredible partners, we are set for some powerful events. And with over 380 exhibitors already signed up months ahead of the shows themselves we believe that Decorex Africa Reimagined is making good on the vision to breathe new life into our brand and the industry. We welcome further discussion with other brands and exhibitors as we build up to the events. We want to do things differently and we are open to collaborations and activations. By constantly reinventing ourselves, we will endeavour to remain relevant for our next 29 years…” says Carol Weaving, MD of RX Africa.

In addition to the group of heavyweight partners, Decorex Africa reimagined has also attracted aligned entities. International hospitality brand Soho House will engage its members with an exclusive walkabout of the show touring three feature stands curated by Bielle Bellingham – 100% Transparency, 100% Weave and 100% Chair. The design market-maker Clout/SA will partner with the shows to support and present unknown designers who are set to become our next big thing.
