Sandy Speicher of Design for Good to tackle water and sanitation goals at UN event
World leaders in sustainable development will gather at the United Nations headquarters in New York on 17 July 2023 to discuss ongoing efforts towards achieving the sixth UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG #6) – ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
This Water Action Agenda Special Event aims to mobilise action across countries, sectors and stakeholders to meet global water- and sanitation-related goals and targets.
Sandy Speicher, a trustee of Design for Good (DfG) and the former CEO of design and consulting firm IDEO, will be presenting at this prestigious event as part of a panel discussion about innovation. Speicher will bring invaluable insights and expertise, speaking about the innovations that have been developed by members of DfG that directly impact on SDG #6.
Established in 2022, DfG is a unique non-profit alliance of leading global organisations that aims to directly harness the creative talent of thousands of designers to design and deliver a positive impact against the UN’s 17 SDGs. Each year, DfG will focus on one of the SDGs, with its first cycle addressing #6, water and sanitation.
The Water Action Agenda Special Event widens the theatre of action away from just governments and development organisations, to include global corporations – recognition that governments alone cannot achieve these audacious goals, and the private sector is a necessary partner. DfG is the only private-sector alliance that is directly focused on impacting the UN SDGs.
Speicher’s participation in the commitments event is a significant milestone for DfG, highlighting the innovative solutions developed by its members.
