AVA Gallery To Host The Cape Town Leg Of The PPC Imaginarium Awards 2018 Travelling Exhibition
South Africa’s most supportive art and design competition, the PPC Imaginarium Awards, will exhibit a selection of work by its national finalists, including that of its Overall Winner, Category Winners and Runners-up, at the Association for Visual Arts (AVA) Gallery in Cape Town from 17 May – 14 June 2018. An educational walkabout of the exhibition will take place at 16h30 on Thursday, 17 May 2018.
Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to engage with the diverse range of art and design works from the competition’s various categories, namely, Fashion, Sculpture, Industrial Design, Jewellery and Film, as well as this year’s overall Architecture winner. All entries must aim to express innovation through the medium of concrete.
The first day of the exhibition will include a walkabout where visitors can learn more about the works and their creators. After the Cape Town show, the exhibition will travel to Johannesburg for the Turbine Art Fair (12-15 July 2018) and 100% Design South Africa (8-13 August 2018), followed by the KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts (KZNSA) Gallery in Durban.
Now in its fifth year, the PPC Imaginarium Awards highlights top emerging talent and assists up-and-coming artists and designers in launching their careers. Entrants stand to win their share of the total cash prize, valued R520 000, as well as exposure, mentorships with industry leaders and more. The prestigious competition has extended its reach from South Africa to Zimbabwe, and is running its first PPC Imaginarium Awards Zimbabwe in 2018.
