 Ladies & Gentlemen Studio

 

SHAPE UP is a versatile lighting series in celebration of geometric shapes, and materials. These playful collages upend traditional notions of symmetry in favor of a dynamic spatial harmony.  The collection’s abstracted lampshade forms are networked via connecting cords and hubs. The resulting modular system allows the shapes to be suspended and composed indefinitely in response to a space’s architecture and function. As if connecting the dots, the cord network graphically expresses the light sources’ formal and electrical connection to each other.

Versatile pendant lighting in a choice of five primary shade shapes: Metal cone, metal hemisphere, glass sphere, cylinder, and arc. All pendants are adjustable in height at any time via the solid brass counterweight and pulley.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec

When designing for Established & Sons, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec’s idea was to light up a voluminous round glass structure that would be balanced on a delicate aluminium support. Drawing attention to the precariousness of the equilibrium Ronan and Erwan wanted to present the vulnerability of the object. What was also interesting to them was the mix of techniques to make the three elements that craft this lamp: the base and the support are industrially made in opposition to the hand-blown glass which uses traditional artisan skills.
