Showcasing some top artistic talent, Antic Art Connection at Kamers Stellenbosch will excite the senses and show some desirable pieces this October.

The Antic Art Connection is a curated, designed space coming to Kamers 2023 in Stellenbosch for the first time. Artists Karen Stewart, Gabrielle Raaff and Kendal Warren are the fuel behind this exciting connection between artists, makers and the audience. We will also be showcasing the exclusive works in oil of Mary Visser, which she calls her ‘Cat Self-help’ series and beautifully framed mirrors and art frames by Jess Morgan of The Framery Hout Bay. Gabrielle Raaff is making whimsical watercolours of people in repose at the beach and will have a limited series of artist’s prints on show. Karen Stewart has created a collection of joyful paper collages and will be showing hand-made rugs. Kendal Warren has designed a series of ceramic totems especially for Kamers, she is also showing her gorgeous terracotta pendant lights. We are also showing the contemporary wire furniture of Willard Musarurwa of Feeling African.

Wanda du Toit of Kamers approached Stewart to bring an exhibition of affordable, contemporary art to Kamers which will be held at the exquisite heritage Blaauwklippen Estate in Stellenbosch from 24 – 29 October 2023. Stewart says: “Markets like Kamers offer professional artists a new platform to showcase their work, and meet a new buyer. We are truly excited about this opportunity to boost our businesses which were hard hit by Covid”.

The Antic Art Connection is designing an innovative stand which will provide an exclusive space to show these carefully chosen works. The materials from the stand will be reused in an Early Childhood Development Centre Stewart is helping to build in Blue Downs. We are passionate about finding solutions to help the environment and are taking a low footprint approach to this project.

The Antic Art Connection is looking forward to working with Kamers, which provides a platform for over 1000 entrepreneurs who are making exclusively South African, well-designed goods. They have created over 3000 job opportunities over the last year and we are proud to be associated with a business that is fuelling the creative industry in this way.
