A New Look For Spier’s Creative Block Wines

Looking for something different to impress your friends and family at your next dinner party? Why not let the beautifully bold new packaging of the Spier Creative Block wines do the work – not to mention what’s inside the bottle, of course.

Speak of which, the new-look Creative Block wines from Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch are a South African take on traditional Rhône- and Bordeaux-style blends. Our winemakers carefully select grapes from different vineyard blocks, combining and blending taste profiles to create wines that are much greater than the sum of their parts.

The Creative Block range of blends contains either 2, 3 or 5 different varietals and each takes its name from a Spier Arts project proudly supporting South African artists. Having won many accolades both at home and abroad since its launch in 2009, this is Spier’s most awarded range of blends, enjoyed by discerning drinkers around the world.

“Blending means we can get the best out of each varietal, creating a layered wine that has richness and complexity. It also enables more consistency from one vintage to the next. It’s a wonderful art and challenge for a winemaker,” says Frans Smit, head winemaker at Spier.

The Creative Block 5 is the perfect companion for a slow cooked oxtail, beef casserole or fire-roasted wild mushroom risotto with truffle oil.

While the Creative Block 3 will pair well with a smoked pork belly or a mildly spicy vegetable-based Indian-style curry.

Try the Creative Block 2 with butter roasted free range chicken and seasoned goat’s cheese under the skin or batter fish nuggets with anchovy mayonnaise.
